Participant Testimonials
Transforming lives:
"To be able to give my patients real world, up-to-date information about their health and how to achieve their optimum state of “wellness” has been so inspiring! I am able to reassure them that their high cholesterol levels are not just because they are “eating badly” or their sleep disturbances are really related to their genetic makeup."

More about our program:

How does Precision Medicine differ from traditional medicine?

Most of the medical world follows what are referred to as ‘general guidelines’ based on statistics to provide diagnoses and treatments that work for the majority of people. In Precision Medicine, we start with your DNA and an extensive lab panel (if purchased) to get a holistic picture of your health. With your results, we review genetic factors unique to you, as well as personalized interventions to turn certain genes on or off – we can turn “on” your good genes with certain lifestyle choices. We combine all of this into a personalized health plan just for you.

Who typically enrolls in the course?

The Fundamentals Course is suited for a variety of backgrounds. While having experience in health coaching, wellness, or medicine is beneficial, additional resources are provided to participants to assist in understanding more medically-driven concepts. If you have an interest in changing the world of health care for the better, our program offers an incredible educational experience in Precision Medicine.

How does enrollment work?

Enrollment for the Fundamentals of Precision Medicine Course is on a rolling basis.

After the course is completed, will I still have access to content?

Participants of the Fundamentals Course receive access to their materials for 1-year from the purchase date.

How much time can I anticipate committing to the course?

Fundamentals Course participants have the freedom to self-pace the 12-module course on their own time.

Needs Assessment
The need for this educational activity was determined by assessment and review of data and literature on the topic, practice gap assessment, and self-assessed practice gaps of the learners through the Wild Health application process.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and health coaches who want to incorporate genomics-based precision medicine into practice.

Goals
The purpose of this activity is to provide participants with evidence-based practice information specifically in the areas of genomics-based precision medicine that can be applied to practice upon completion of the fellowship.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Describe the overall approach to personalized precision medicine and health coaching.
  2. Differentiate between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and genetic mutations, and describe the role of epigenetics in DNA expression and phenotypic impact on patients.
  3. Identify key SNPs, their mechanism of action and impact, and the interventions associated with the SNPs, and their role in precision medicine.
  4. Develop strategies and intervention for individualized exercise prescription, training, and recovery based on the patient’s lifestyle, preferences, and genetic factors.
  5. Identify individual factors from genetics, laboratory data, and lifestyle that can be modified to reduce the risk for development of chronic diseases, including hypertension, insulin resistance/diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dementia/Alzheimer’s, hypothyroidism, and osteoporosis/osteoarthritis, and to screen for chronic diseases and implement individualized approaches for management.
  6. Utilize genetic and lifestyle factors as well as supplement characteristics to impact optimization of vitamins, minerals, and other supplements to create a tailored patient management plan.
  7. Manage gastrointestinal conditions by identifying key physiologic and clinical elements of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and intestinal permeability, as well as utilizing genetic and lifestyle factors as well as supplement characteristics to effect positive change in the microbiome.
  8. Utilize lifestyle interventions within precision medicine to decrease stress and promote behavioral change, mindfulness, motivation, and sleep optimization.
  9. Utilize genetic and lifestyle factors to optimize approaches to men’s and women’s health conditions, including fertility and HRT.
  10. Identify the genetic factors affecting autoimmune disorders, and apply lifestyle interventions and appropriate supplements to manage autoimmune disorders.
  11. Apply current recommendations and approaches to screening and reducing risk for breast, cervical, lung, prostate and colon, and skin cancer.
